KINTSUGI
Kintsugi (or Kintsukuroi) is a Japanese art form that dates back to the late 15th century and means “to mend or join with gold”. It began as an artistic way to mend broken pottery with lines of gold, but quickly became a metaphor for life itself. People cherished the newly mended pieces, with a realization that embracing our flaws and breaks instead of hiding them can lead to something more beautiful and resilient, and that mending from the trauma of being broken is as important to the beauty as anything else.

"When our ease is interrupted by trauma or pain, we can mend and bring ourselves back to beauty, often with spectacular results."
|
Mindful healing starts with a pause. Understanding that tragedy and unity can be forged into purpose. Life altering events can later be seen as world changing gifts. That you can take a moment to stop the downward spiral of pain and feel the glimmer of a hopeful moment that this too shall pass. Just as a broken bowl lays on the floor, once picked up and placed on the table, the pieces soon reveal how they can be mended back together.

No life is perfect, there are cracks and broken pieces in all of us. But where do you find life's gold? We believe that life's gold is found not through monetary wealth, but in your own mind and heart. In lessons learned, the acceptance of pain and the release of fear, and the joy of opening and sharing yourself with others. We mend ourselves and grow from within, with gratitude, hope and perseverance. That is our gold.

We challenge you to find the gold within yourself and to become the gold for someone else. Do not fear breaking, find strength within and with others when you do. Life's cracks need to be seen and the triumph of mending needs to be celebrated. Embrace the comfort in that we are all More Beautiful for Being Broken™.
